Summit couple arrested on numerous felony and misdemeaors

On Tuesday, May 17, 2011, Warren Willette, age 43, and Cherie Mitchem, age 26, both of Summit, were arrested for numerous felony charges. The arrests stem from the day prior, when the two were seen by an employee at a local business, removing several items.

The following day, the Willette and Mitchem, returned to the same business and was attempting to take more items. An employee then called the sheriff's department and officer's responded and made contact with the two, whom had left a small infant in the car, as they were stealing the items.

Officers then searched their residence and recovered numerous stolen goods. During the arrest, Mitchem gave officers a false identification card, which belonged to another individual, which had also been stolen.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered the identification card, belonged to a victim from a separate theft, that occurred in Bull Shoals. It was then discovered that Mitchem and Willet had used the stolen credit cards at various locations, including purchasing a vehicle under the name of the victim. Officers obtained video surveillance from a business in Flippin of the two committing the crimes.

Originally, both Willette was charged with: Two counts of commercial burglary (felony); theft of property (felony); attempted theft of property (misdemeanor); driving on a suspended driver's license; failure to register a vehicle; no proof of insurances; and endangering the welfare of a minor (felony). Mitchem was charged with: Two counts of commercial burglary (felony); theft of property (felony); attempted theft of property (misdemeanor); endangering the welfare of a minor (felony) and obstructing governmental operations (misdemeanor).

Since the discovery of the identity theft and video surveillance, Willette and Mitchem were both additionally charged with: breaking and entering; theft of property (felony); theft of property (misdemeanor); fraudulent use of a credit card (felony); and two counts of attempted fraudulent use of credit card (felony).

So far, investigation has revealed that Willette and Mitchem have been linked to crimes in Baxter County and other possible areas.  The investigation is ongoing and the information has been forwarded to the appropriate agencies. 

Both Willette and Mitchem are currently being held in the Marion County Jail on a $30,000.00 and are awaiting there first appearance before the Marion County Circuit Court.  Assisting in the investigation were the Flippin Police Department and Bull Shoals Police Department.
