On Friday, June 10, 2011, Melissa Denny, age 22, of Cotter, was arrested on a Marion County Felony warrant for: Theft of Property (class B felony) and Forgery in the Second Degree (class C felony). The arrest stems from a complaint filed by a citizen that noticed unusual fees and charges on their bank and credit card accounts.
During the investigation, it was revealed that nearly $7,000.00 was spent out of the accounts and was used at several different businesses, with some being captured on video surveillance. Denny, was an acquaintance of the victims and turned herself in to the Marion County Sheriff's Office, where she confessed to committing the crimes. Denny's bond was set at $5,000.00 and is scheduled to appear before the Marion County Circuit Court on June 22, 2011 at 10:00 AM.
