On Wednesday, May 30, 2012, Marion County Deputies responded to a call regarding an intoxicated male screaming outside his residence. While the deputies were in route, it was reported the male, later identified as Sidney Hayes, age 44, of rural Yellville, had then shot at his neighbor with a crossbow, in which the arrow missed the neighbor, but went through the underpinning of the neighbor’s residence. Upon arrival, the deputies were granted access to Hayes’ residence and located him in a back bedroom, attempting to hide under a bed. Hayes then refused to cooperate with the deputies and began to resist arrest and striking one of the deputies. Hayes was subdued and arrested for Aggravated Assault; Battery in the Second Degree; Resisting Arrest; and Criminal Mischief. Hayes’ bond was set at $20,000.00 and he’s currently waiting to appear before the Marion County Circuit Court.
