On Thursday, May 2nd, 2013, at approximately 2:00 AM, deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence just south of Yellville, in reference to a subject shooting a firearm in a residential area. Upon arrival, officers soon observed Jimmy Don Stevens, age 58, of Yellville, exit his residence, and shoot a shotgun and what appeared to be some type of fireworks in the direction of several homes and Arkansas State Highway 14. While Stevens was outside he began screaming that he would kill anyone that came near his property. Officers were able to make contact with Stevens and physically restrain him after a scuffle. After restraining Steven’s, officers discovered multiple firearms, ammunition, brass knuckles, and approximately 13 homemade improvised explosive devices (IED’s), outside his residence. Upon arrival at the Marion County Jail, Stevens became physically violent again and during the booking procedure, he broke a Plexiglas barrier, video monitor and threatened to kill officers. Stevens, a convicted felon, was arrested for Aggravated Assault; Terroristic Threatening; Possession of a Firearm by a Certain Person (Felon); Criminal Mischief in the 1st Degree; Criminal Use of a Prohibited Weapon; Resisting Arrest; and Disorderly Conduct. Stevens’ bond was set at $75,000.00 and is currently awaiting his first appearance before the Marion County Circuit Court.
