On Wednesday, July 31st, 2013, James William Smith, age 41, of rural Flippin, was arrested for one (1) count of misdemeanor theft and two (2) counts of felony residential burglary. The arrest stems from Smith being observed going to various homes in a truck with “handy man” on the side and taking items from the properties. One of the homes was occupied by a resident, whom witnessed Smith reach through the window and attempt to take an air conditioning unit. The victim yelled at Smith, who fled the area. Smith was soon arrested but bonded out on $10,000.00. The following Friday, on August 2nd, 2013, Smith was arrested again, when authorities from the state of Mississippi contacted the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, requesting he be picked up on a warrant for violating his parole. Smith was again arrested on the Mississippi warrant and his bond on the previous was revoked. Smith now remains back incarcerated in the Marion County Jail on the original charges along with a “no bond” detainer out of Mississippi, as he awaits extradition back to that state. |
