On Sunday, September 22nd, 2013, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a concerned individual that a Kyle Riggs claimed he had choked his father to death and would be waiting for officers at the Fairview Cemetery. At that time approximately 13 law enforcement officers responded to what was portrayed by Riggs to be a possible murder. When officers were unable to locate Riggs at the cemetery, they found him outside his residence, where they discovered a large hunting knife and a used syringe in his possession. Officer’s then located Riggs’ father inside, who was asleep but safe. The father stated he had been dealing with Kyle all day and he had been talking “crazy”. Riggs’ father stated Kyle had been displaying very odd behavior and had threatened to kill him with a chopping ax. Kyle admitted to officers he had been using meth excessively the past few days and wanted officers to kill him. Riggs was taken in to custody without incident and arrested for Communicating a False Alarm and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Riggs’ bond was set at $20,000.00 and is scheduled to make his first appearance before the Marion County Circuit Court on September 25th, 2013.
