On 2-3-15 Edward Wnek, age 60, of Yellville was arrested and charged with Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, a Class C Felony and Unlawful Use of a Communication Device, a Class C Felony.
The arrest stems from a joint investigation by the Marion County Sheriff's Office and the Flippin Police Department. On 2-3-15 a Deputy with the Marion County Sheriff's Office received a voicemail with drug related information from a number he did not recognize. Later in the day the number texted the Deputy. The number initiated a drug related conversation eventually asking the Deputy if he wanted to purchase Morphine pills. The Deputy, with investigators advice, engaged in conversation with the party and made arrangements to meet with the party at a set time and location to make the purchase. Officers from each Department set up surveillance at the location and observed a vehicle arrive at the meeting place. Seconds after the vehicle arrived the Deputy received a text message from the suspect phone number advising they were at the meeting location. Officers from each Department made contact with Wnek in the vehicle. Officers advised Wnek that he had been texting a Marion County Deputy throughout the day to arrange this narcotics transaction. During the contact Officers found Wnek to be in possession of Morphine with an additional amount of Morphine pills packaged separately for sale. Later Wnek admitted that he was going to sale the pills to a party and that he must have saved the person's phone number incorrectly in his phone accidentally contacting the Deputy.
Wnek was transported to the Marion County Sheriff's Office. Judge Jason Duffy set bond for Wnek at $15,000.00. He remains incarcerated at the time of the press release.
