Jacob Eakes Arrested in Connection with Robbery

On 2-9-16 Jacob Eakes, age 23, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Robbery, a Class Y Felony.

Eakes had an outstanding warrant for Aggravated Robbery for his involvement in the January 14th Robbery of Hilltop Liquor in Summit, Arkansas. The warrant has been outstanding for approximately two weeks. Eakes contacted the Marion County Sheriff's Office on 2-8-16 and wanted to know why his picture had been published in numerous places and why he was wanted. He spoke with Sergeant Silas Gibson of the Criminal Investigation Division who has been actively working this case. Eakes initially advised Gibson that he would report to see Gibson on 2/10/16, but later called back and advised Gibson that he was in Jonesboro Arkansas with no ride. Gibson made arrangements to meet Eakes at a location in Jonesboro Arkansas.
On 2-9-16 Gibson along with Chief Smith of the Flippin Police Department met Eakes at the prescribed location and arrested him without incident. Eakes is cooperating with the investigation and stated to officers that he was tired of looking over his shoulder and wanted to get this behind him.

Eakes is also under investigation for robberies in the Jonesboro area, which he was discovered as a suspect due to the Marion County investigation.

Still wanted in connection with this incident is James Richard Johnson, age 23. Johnson has an outstanding felony warrant for Aggravated Robbery, a Class Y Felony. Officers believe Johnson is actively avoiding law enforcement and may be getting assistance from associates. Officers will continue the investigation and anyone identified as aiding Johnson in avoiding apprehension or prosecution will also face legal consequences.

Officers anticipate additional arrests regarding this incident as the investigation continues.

Eakes remains in the Marion County Jail awaiting his first appearance in Court  with bond set at $100,000.00.  Anyone with information regarding this incident or the whereabouts of James Richard Johnson is asked to contact the Marion County Sheriff's Office at 870-449-4236.
