Sheriff Joan Vickers announces the arrest of a second suspect in the January 14th aggravated robbery of the Hilltop Liquor store in Summit, Arkansas. James R. Johnson surrendered to authorities this morning at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office shortly after 8:00am.
On February 9, 2016 shortly after Sheriff Vickers announced the arrest of Jacob Eakes, who is a suspect in connection with the same robbery, Investigator Silas Gibson with the Sheriff’s Office sent a text message to Johnson informing him of the arrest of Eakes and that he needed to call and talk about what had happened. A short time later, Inv. Gibson received a text back from Johnson stating he was in the Jonesboro/Trumann area and wanted to meet and turn himself in. Johnson was able to find a ride back to Yellville where he surrendered to authorities at the Sheriff’s Office shortly after 8:00am this morning. Johnson is cooperating with authorities and additional arrests are expected. Johnson is being held in the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in lieu of a $100,000 bond awaiting his first court appearance. |
