Fatal Shooting Under Investigation

On Wednesday, June 13th, at approximately 3:45 PM, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from Toni Nordyke, who stated her son, James Lee Deen, age 27 of Flippin, had accidentally shot himself in the chest.  While Officers were in route, Dispatch advised Nordyke to pull into the parking lot of the Animal Clinic of the Ozarks on State Highway 62 just outside of Flippin city limits, where she would be met by Deputies and medical personnel. Upon arrival, Officers began administering aid to Deen and immediately notified Air-Evac who arrived on scene within minutes. Deen was airlifted to Cox Hospital in Branson. It was later reported to Law Enforcement that Deen succumbed to his injuries while in route.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division with the assistance of the Arkansas State Police.
